SAMIA whole thyme is dried thyme in sprigs, sold in a 50 g pack. This aromatic herb flavours slow-cooked dishes, grilled meats and tomato sauces of Maghrebi as well as Mediterranean cuisine.
What is whole thyme?
Whole thyme refers to dried thyme sprigs with their small leaves, as opposed to ground thyme reduced to a powder. The dried, brown-green leaves release a warm, woody aroma as soon as they are crushed between the fingers. SAMIA distributes it in a resealable 50 g pack.
How to use it?
The SAMIA pack recommends adding it to ratatouille, stuffed vegetables, tomato coulis and scrambled eggs with tomato or pepper, as well as for seasoning meats for a barbecue. In Maghrebi cuisine, a few sprigs also flavour tajines, marinades and stocks: they are removed before serving. As an infusion, let a sprig simmer in hot water for a few minutes.
What to pair it with?
Thyme complements SAMIA tajine spices and SAMIA ras el hanout to make a complete tajine. Find the recipe for Moroccan tajine on the NKOSI blog, and other products in the Moroccan and Maghrebi cuisine range.
