This kit brings together 4 products built around hibiscus and bissap, in 3 formats: whole flowers to brew, individual sachets and 2 instant granulated drinks, so you can compare ways of preparing bissap.
What's in this kit?
- TANTIE whole red bissap, 100 g bag: 100% whole dried hibiscus flowers.
- RACINES bissap infusion, 25 sachets (40 g): 100% bissap flower, one sachet per cup.
- STARLING bissap, 400 g jar: sweetened soluble granules, 1.3% hibiscus extract.
- STARLING mint bissap, 400 g jar: sweetened soluble granules, 2.8% hibiscus extract and peppermint.
Flowers, sachets or granules: what's the difference?
TANTIE whole red bissap and the RACINES infusion are 100% dried hibiscus flowers: they steep in hot water and are then strained, and you sweeten them yourself. The 2 STARLING jars are different: soluble granules based on sugar and dextrose or glucose, already sweetened, which dissolve directly in hot or cold water, with nothing to strain.
What is bissap?
Bissap is the Wolof name for the red hibiscus flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa) and the drink made from it. In Senegal, it accompanies major occasions (christenings, weddings, religious celebrations), and offering it to a guest is part of local hospitality customs. The complete guide: homemade hibiscus drink recipes.
How do you prepare each product?
- TANTIE: rinse 50 g of flowers, pour in 1 litre of boiling water, steep for 20 minutes to 2 hours, strain and sweeten.
- RACINES: one sachet per cup, simmering water, 3 to 5 minutes.
- STARLING, bissap or mint bissap: pour in the granules according to the jar's dosage, add hot or cold water, and stir until dissolved.
What goes well with it?
To prepare bissap with cane sugar and fresh mint, there's also the homemade bissap kit. In the same range: Peanut paste discovery kit. The whole range: bissap and hibiscus flowers.
