Frequently asked questions

Where can I buy DAKATINE?

NKOSI sells DAKATINE peanut paste in a 425 g tin, along with everything you need for mafé, and ships it from the Paris area within 24 to 72 working hours, to mainland France (2 to 3 working days) and to ten European countries. The minimum order is 39 €: in France, delivery to a pickup point is then free, and home delivery is free from 59 €.

Is DAKATINE peanut butter?

The starting product is the same, roasted and ground peanuts. The difference lies in the recipe: American-style peanut butter is often sweetened, whereas DAKATINE contains no added sugar. It is therefore suited to savoury cooking, mafé, peanut sauces, ndolé, and can also be spread on bread.

What is DAKATINE made of?

Three ingredients, according to the label: roasted peanuts (97.5%), emulsifier of vegetable origin (E471) and salt. No added sugar, no added oil. The emulsifier serves to limit the peanut oil rising to the surface. The product therefore contains peanuts, a major allergen.

Is DAKATINE a Senegalese brand?

No, even though its name comes from Dakar and the French word tartine. DAKATINE has been made in France, in Strasbourg, since the 1960s. It is in West Africa and in Réunion that it is best known: mafé and peanut sauces are cooked there with this unsweetened paste.

What can you cook with DAKATINE?

Senegalese and Malian mafé first, with about 250 g of paste for 1 kg of meat, then the peanut sauces of Côte d'Ivoire and Cameroon, Cameroonian ndolé, Senegalese ngalakh and leaf sauces such as pondu. And on bread at breakfast, with no added sugar.

How much peanut paste for a mafé?

Allow about 250 g of peanut paste for 1 kg of meat. Thin the paste in 50 cl of lukewarm water before pouring it into the tomato sauce: the more water you add, the thinner the sauce will be.

How much protein is in DAKATINE?

The label shows 27.2 g of protein per 100 g, for 625 kcal, 51.4 g of fat, 9.3 g of carbohydrates of which 5.9 g of sugars, 8.4 g of fibre and 0.5 g of salt. The sugars are those of the peanut: the recipe contains no added sugar.
