LOTUS Thai fragrant rice is a long-grain rice of the jasmine variety, grown in Thailand under the name Hom Mali. Its fragrance is released during cooking and its grains stay supple and slightly sticky. 1 kg bag, 100% rice.
What is jasmine rice?
A Thai long-grain rice variety, harvested mainly in the north-east of the country. The word jasmine comes from the whiteness of the grain and its fragrance, not from any added flower. It is a rice different from basmati, softer and more fragrant, and different from broken rice, whose grains are fragmented.
How to cook it?
- Rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs clear.
- Allow one and a half times its volume in water, add salt, and bring to the boil.
- Lower the heat, cover and cook for about ten minutes, until the water is fully absorbed, then let it rest a few minutes off the heat before fluffing it.
What to serve it with?
It goes with sauces and stews: palm nut sauce, chicken, braised fish, sautéed vegetables. For thiéboudienne, ORCHIDÉE broken rice is preferred, as it absorbs the sauce. All the rice varieties are in the cereals and grains category.
