Royal Soda grenadine is a red soda made in Martinique, in Le Lamentin, by SNEMBG. It is a Caribbean brand, sold in Martinique as well as Guadeloupe. 2 L bottle, ready to drink.
What is Royal Soda grenadine?
A sweet fizzy drink with a grenadine flavouring, without fruit juice. It is not a syrup: it is not diluted, it is drunk as it is. Its red colour comes from two colourings of natural origin, anthocyanins and carminic acid, or carmine, extracted from cochineal, an insect: the product is therefore neither vegetarian nor vegan. SNEMBG, which bottles it, also makes other Royal Soda flavours, including pineapple.
How to serve it?
Well chilled, on its own or with ice cubes. Its colour and sweet taste make it a base for an alcohol-free punch for children, or a party drink with pieces of fresh fruit. At the table, it goes with accras or a colombo.
What to pair it with?
The Royal Soda pineapple is from the same brand. The Kola Champion SOLO is another soda much loved in the Caribbean. The recipe for chicken colombo is on the blog, and Caribbean products are gathered in the flavours of the Caribbean and the Antilles department.
