ESPIG ground green anise is a powder with a mild, aniseed aroma, made from green anise seeds (Pimpinella anisum). It flavours savoury dishes as well as pastries and hot drinks. 100 g bag.
What is ground green anise?
Green anise is a plant whose seeds are harvested, here dried then ground. ESPIG is a spice house founded in Marseille in 1876 by Antoine Espig, now based in Gémenos. The label presents it for Mediterranean cooking: its flavour is fresh and lightly sweet.
How to use it?
In baking, flavour breads, biscuits, cakes and brioches with a pinch of ground anise. In savoury cooking, it enhances raw vegetables, salads, soups, stews and certain fish preparations, as well as sweet-and-sour sauces. As an infusion, stir a small amount into hot water for a fragrant drink at the end of a meal.
What to pair it with?
With ESPIG ground coriander, another spice from the same house, or for baking with BÉGUÉ ginger biscuits. All the spices are in the spices and condiments section. In the same section: SAMIA ground green anise.
