Origins and cultural heritage of All-in-1 JUMBO
The All-in-1 JUMBO blend is a complete seasoning widely adopted in West African cuisines, particularly in Ivory Coast, Senegal, Mali and Cameroon. Inspired by mothers' cooking pots and sauces prepared by the fireside, it brings together in a single jar the spices the family uses every day: sea salt, pepper, stock cube, garlic, onion, ginger, parsley and a touch of chilli. JUMBO has been one of the reference brands for these blends for over fifty years, distributed throughout French-speaking Africa.
Culinary uses of All-in-1 JUMBO
This versatile blend replaces half a dozen spices in most African and Caribbean recipes. A few tried-and-tested applications:
- Nigerian or Senegalese jollof rice: 1 tablespoon per 500g of rice, with tomato and concentrate.
- Peanut mafé sauce: season the meat in advance with 2 teaspoons, then incorporate into the peanut paste.
- Ivorian braised chicken: marinate for 30 minutes with 1 tablespoon, lemon juice and onion.
- Okra sauce: 1 teaspoon at the start of cooking to enhance the smoked fish.
- Attiéké with grilled fish: sprinkle directly before grilling.
Storage: away from moisture and heat, in its resealed original jar. The aroma stays optimal for up to eighteen months after opening.
Nutritional benefits and practical advantages
The main contribution of All-in-1 remains functional: it saves time while guaranteeing a consistent aromatic profile. Active components such as ginger support digestion, chilli provides capsaicin recognised for stimulating the metabolism, and garlic concentrates sulphur compounds studied for their cardiovascular effects. Like any blend containing salt and glutamate, to be dosed reasonably in a balanced diet.
