NUMBER ONE Toffi are caramels flavoured with petit cola, the small bitter nut eaten in West Africa and called bitter kola by English speakers. A sweet to slip into your pocket, in a 50 g pouch.
What is petit cola?
Petit cola is the seed of Garcinia kola. In Nigeria, it is called orogbo in Yoruba, aki ilu in Igbo, namijin goro in Hausa. It is not the cola nut: that comes from a different tree, the kola tree, and has neither the same shape nor the same taste. Plain, petit cola is distinctly bitter and astringent. In caramel form, the sugar comes to the fore, and the bitterness of petit cola stays in the background.
How to enjoy them?
As they are, like a sweet. They go well with a coffee or a tea. These are not petit cola nuts: if it is the nut you are looking for, to eat or to give as a gift, choose the whole petit cola.
What to pair them with?
The whole petit cola and NUMBER ONE petit cola powder for the original taste. From the same brand: Toffi ginger caramel. In the same spirit: BÉGUÉ ginger sweets. The blog explains everything about petit cola. The whole department: snacks and treats.
