La Blanche is the historic lemonade from the Algerian house Hamoud Boualem: a clear, lemon-flavoured sparkling drink, with no colouring. Its label recalls the year the house was founded, 1878, and the gold medal it won at the 1889 Paris World's Fair. 1.5 L bottle.
What is Hamoud lemonade?
A sweet, sparkling lemonade, flavoured with lemon, clear, hence its name. The house of Hamoud Boualem, founded in Algiers, also makes Selecto, its brown soda with an apple and caramel taste. The bottle sold in France carries the wording “Produced under licence from Hamoud Boualem SPA, Algeria”: the recipe is Algerian, the bottling is done under licence.
How to serve it?
Very cold, poured gently to keep the bubbles, with ice cubes if you like. It is drunk at the table, at family meals, and makes a good base for mint lemonade: a few fresh mint leaves and a dash of lime in the glass. Once opened, keep the bottle tightly closed in the refrigerator.
What to pair it with?
The Selecto comes from the same house. The IFRI Raspberry Gazouz completes the table of Algerian drinks. The chicken couscous recipe is on the blog, and all drinks are in the drinks section.
