NUMBER ONE djeka seed is the whole dried seed of a West African plant, traditionally prepared as a decoction in Côte d'Ivoire. It is boiled then strained before use. 100 g bag.
What is djeka?
Djeka is the vernacular name, used mainly in Côte d'Ivoire, for the plant Alchornea cordifolia, a shrub of tropical forests and gallery forests of Africa, found from Senegal to Congo. In Dioula, it is called “coyiranbourou”; in Bambara, “koyiran boulou”. NKOSI also sells the leaf of the same plant, separately.
How to prepare it?
Boil a small handful of seeds in water, sometimes with a piece of ginger and a few grains of long pepper (African black pepper). Let it simmer for a few minutes, then strain before drinking, hot or warm.
What to pair it with?
NKOSI also offers the leaf of the same plant, as CAMBY djeka leaf and NUMBER ONE djeka leaf, prepared in a similar way. Other traditional West African herbal teas can be found in the teas and infusions range.
