SAMIA sweet mint pieces are dried spearmint, broken into small fragments. It is the mint used in traditional Maghrebi mint tea, and also used in salads and certain sauces. 50 g bag.
What is sweet mint?
“Sweet mint” is the common name for spearmint, Mentha spicata, as opposed to peppermint, Mentha x piperita, which is richer in menthol and has a sharper taste. Spearmint owes its sweet, fresh fragrance to carvone. This bag contains 100 % dried spearmint, broken into pieces rather than whole leaves.
How to use it?
For mint tea, add a tablespoon of mint to a teapot of hot green tea, let it infuse for a few minutes and sweeten to taste. In cooking, it enhances a tabbouleh, a cucumber salad, a yoghurt sauce or a minced meat stuffing. Its fragrance is quite strong: start with a small amount and adjust.
What to pair it with?
For mint tea, pair it with green tea 555, the gunpowder tea traditionally used for ataya. The full recipe is on the blog: Moroccan mint tea. The whole Moroccan and Maghrebi cuisine range brings these products together.
