ROYAL BOURBON green cabri chilli paste is a very hot condiment from Réunion, made from crushed green cabri chilli with ginger, salt, vinegar and combava. A knife-tip's worth is enough to spice up a cari, a rougail or plain rice. 90 g jar.
What is cabri chilli?
Cabri is a very hot chilli variety grown in Réunion, close to the habanero, and not a meat: its name is said to come from the small size of its fruits. This paste is prepared by Royal Bourbon Industries, in Bras-Panon, from green cabri chilli (about 65%), ginger, salt, vinegar and combava.
How to use it?
Use it sparingly: a knife-tip's worth is enough to spice up a dish. It traditionally accompanies Réunion caris and rougails, is mixed with a drizzle of oil for a homemade rougail piment, or is served on the side of the plate to spice up rice, grilled meat or samosas.
What to pair it with?
It spices up ROYAL BOURBON red kidney beans as well as plain ROYAL BOURBON lentils. The brand also offers a milder red chilli paste. The whole Réunion grocery range on the shop is gathered in a single collection.
