ROYAL BOURBON white beans are already cooked, canned beans, prepared according to the Réunion creole tradition. Their only composition: white beans, water and salt. They heat up in a few minutes and go with a carry or a rice. 400 g tin.
What are ROYAL BOURBON white beans?
ROYAL BOURBON is a canned-food brand founded around 1950 by Royal Bourbon Industries, in Bras-Panon, on the island of Réunion, in the Indian Ocean. The name comes from “Bourbon”, the island's former name. These are whole white beans, cooked and packed in a tin with only water and salt, with no other ingredient: a simple base for Réunion creole cooking, between rice, carry and rougail.
How to use them?
The beans are already cooked: simply reheat them over low heat for a few minutes, with a little water if needed. The brand suggests frying garlic in oil, pouring in the beans and their liquid, then simmering for 5 minutes with a sprig of thyme, before serving alongside a carry and a rice. Once the tin is opened, transfer the rest into a non-metallic container, refrigerate and consume promptly.
What to pair them with?
To put together a complete Réunion-style meal, pair these beans with LOTUS fragrant Thai rice and ROYAL BOURBON red chilli paste, from the same brand. ROYAL BOURBON lentils are prepared the same way, for variety among pulses. Find the whole range in our Réunion grocery.
