SAMIA verbena is a bag of dried leaves of lemon verbena, originating from Morocco, where it is called Louiza. Its pronounced lemon fragrance makes it a herbal tea enjoyed on its own or combined with mint, in the style of Moroccan tea. 50 g bag.
Lemon verbena or common vervain?
There are two different plants bearing the name verbena. Common vervain (Verbena officinalis) is a European plant that is almost odourless. Lemon verbena, or lemon-scented verbena (Aloysia citrodora), on the contrary gives off a pronounced lemon fragrance, as indicated on this product's label. In Morocco, where it is grown, it is called Louiza: it is this lemon verbena that makes up this bag.
How to prepare it?
The label recommends a handful of dried leaves per litre of boiling water. Let it infuse for several minutes depending on the strength you want, then strain. In Morocco, verbena is traditionally combined with mint in tea, served after meals; it is also drunk on its own, hot in winter or iced in summer.
What to pair it with?
With SAMIA crushed sweet mint, to make a Moroccan-style tea as in our Moroccan mint tea recipe. The teas and infusions aisle and the Moroccan and Maghrebi cuisine aisle bring together other complementary products. In the same aisle: Verbena infusion.
