Precautions
Senna leaf is, like rhubarb root and buckthorn bark, among the substances placed under European Union monitoring (EU implementing regulation 2021/468), following an opinion of the European Food Safety Authority on hydroxyanthracene derivatives. The European monograph of the European Medicines Agency on senna leaf advises against its use for children under 12, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and beyond one to two weeks without medical advice. This tea also contains bladderwrack, a seaweed that provides iodine: if you have a thyroid disorder, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
