DÉLICES DE GUYANE ginger syrup is a concentrated syrup made in French Guiana, from sugar, water and local fresh ginger (7%). It is diluted in water or used in cooking and baking. 25 cl bottle.
What is ginger syrup?
This syrup is made by Délices de Guyane, a company based in Remire-Montjoly, French Guiana, also known under the Colibri brand name for its syrups. Its ingredient list is short: sugar, water, ginger (7%) and an acidifier (citric acid). It is a concentrated, sweet cordial, light brown to beige in colour, designed to be diluted rather than drunk neat.
How to use it?
Pour a few tablespoons into a glass of fresh or sparkling water for a ginger drink, or dilute it in hot tea. It also finds its way into cocktails, granitas, over ice cream, or to flavour a fruit pastry. As it is a concentrated, sweet syrup, dilute it generously then adjust to your taste.
What to pair it with?
For a ready-made sparkling drink, try OLD JAMAICA ginger beer or RACINES concentrated ginger juice. On the cane syrup side, there is DORMOY cane and vanilla syrup. The blog's African ginger juice recipe gives another way to dose fresh ginger. The whole section: drinks.
